I've experienced my first tank crack from a ejuice, well didnt just crack but melted the mouth piece and ate away the actual tank... I was a little upset due to the fact I received this juice from a "take one , leave one" bucket at a vape meet. I'm unsure if the reason someone chose to put this juice in the bucket was because it cracks plastic tanks. I'm only assuming (YES I know i should not assume things) because it was a 30ml full bottle minus a few ml. I wish someone would have given me the heads up on it so I didn't ruin CE5. I would like to start a thread for just an FYI DONT USE IN PLASTIC. Please no dissing juice (the juice may be amazing just not good in plastic tank juice) just if a juice cracked your tank just provide the vendor and juice name. Thanks alot just wanna keep a look out for the fellow vapor. Once we have enough juice on here I will edit the main message so it is easier to read.

I copied this list from ECF, it is by no means complete.

All of the ejuice/flavors listed below have been reported by an ecf member to cause problems for them. YMMV.

Many people don't which is why I copied it, but it was only right to give the credit to those who put in the time and effort :)

I'm just a vape user, a newish one in fact and after buying a Kanger ProTank I found that I didn't like the way the metal tip felt against my teeth so I poked a hole in the plastic tip that came with the tank which covers the mouthpiece of new tanks. A few hours later, I discovered that the plastic tip had virtually disintegrated.
Now all of this discussion about needing e-juice to come in glass bottles etc is really fascinating but is ANYONE even the least bit concerned about inhaling a substance that MELTS PLASTIC?! What the hell is this doing to my lungs???! Anybody know?
Just my two cents,
PB

hi psbrowen, it isn't that juice needs to come in glass bottles, but some tanks are not made out of a plastic that will hold up to some juices, as you found with the tip cover.
Keep in mind in a case like what you had there is a mix of things going on, heat from the device adds to it, not sure what juice you where vaping when that happened, but anything with much citric acid such as pineapple, orange as well as strong menthol and other juices do have a reaction to some plastics, this is a chemical reaction as our lungs are not made of the same chemicals as the plastic there should not be an issue.
It is like putting vinegar on baking soda, alone both are fine, together they bubble up and create an mild acid effect that is great for cleaning battery connections on your car.

Thank you for clearing that up for me. Would you mind if I copy your response and post it to another forum that I submitted the same concerns on?
Thanks again,

I've written a blog article for another forum on this subject. I explain that this phenonemon is simply a chemical reaction to a specific plastic and specific flavoring agents. This is similar to when you apply Coke to the corrosive build-up on your battery terminals; Coke doesnt do the same thing to your body.
There is also a video of a tank literally melting after being filled with one of these e-liquids in addition to the above list of known flavors to destroy tanks. I also include a list of safe juice attachments that you can use these flavors in. Click the link in the attachment to find "Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors".

Because there are a large number of ingredients/juices which can cause these reactions, I thought it best, for me anyway, to just use glass (pyrex/quartz) or metal going forward. But for those sticking with plastic tanks, this information is good. I include a warning on my DIY recipes page, when pyrex is recomended. Polypropylene, is supposed to stand up better (vs polycarbonate), but I am uncertain about the long term with this type of plastic.
I used to ask myself the same questions as others. About the safety of juices that can eat through plastic. Learning more about it though, I'm not really concerned anymore. Acid is a scary word, but the fact is many acids are beneficial to the body. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C), amino acids, etc.
